As a juvenile, the Fuscus trigger is yellow with scribbled blue lines covering its body. As an adult, the color changes to green-blue with the broken blue lines becoming more complete and filled in. The Fuscus Trigger is one of the most aggressive triggers available to home aquarists, so choose tankmates and set-up carefully Triggerfish are rather aggressive and are best kept with fish of similar size and aggression. Their diet should consist of vitamin-enriched meaty frozen foods, shrimp, snails (shell intact), as well as the occasional live food snack. Most triggers can be very destructive in a reef set up. Triggers from the genera Balistes and Balistoides are generally the most aggressive species. Care should be taken to protect equipment like heaters and power cords, as Triggers have been known to bite at some equipment and may cause damage to the equipment, themselves or to tankmates. Also be aware of your own hands in the aquarium – many unwary aquarists have been bitten after they forget to watch their trigger as they clean!
